| A Novel BOD Analyzer Using the Mediator-Less Microbial Fuel CellHABS series has been engineered to work without any DO probe. Instead it uses a mediator-less microbial fuel cell as a BOD sensor. This new principle reduces the maintenance and service costs because there is no need to replace an expensive DO probe.Principle Electrochemical active bacteria produce electrons during digestion of organic contaminants in wastewater. Produced electrons transfer from the electrochemical active bacteria to the electrodes and an electric current is generated. The generated current from a microbial fuel cell is directly proportional to the amount of organic waste supplied. Thus, the generated current is converted to measure the BOD value. |
