Features Diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSSL) are usually considered as two types by the pumping manner: Diode end-pumped SSL and diode side-pumped SSL. The main advantages of the former are good beam quality, high pumping efficiency and passively cooling while the output power is always limited. Thus it is usually applied in some occasions where high resolution is required such as material micro processing. The main advantage of the later is the ability to achieve high-output power by increasing the number of the diode lasers simply. To combine the advantages of both types, we developed a so-called multi-spot end-pumping technique, where multiple pumping spots are employed.
