The automotive computer is also known as the ECM. This means "engine control module". The purpose of the ECM is to monitor the sensors of the vehicle and communicate with the motor to make adjustments, and to produce a fault code if a suitable adjustment is not possible. The code can be detected by a diagnostic computer, so that you can resolve some issues before they become serious. This computer is also known as the PCM, the powertrain control module.
