Parker Karanja Oil is widely used as a pesticide. Foliar sprays of karanja oil have been effective against a hosts of pests. Karanja Oil is also used in leather dressing, soap making and in the manufacture of lubricants. Pharmaceutical preparations based on Karanja oil are used for treating skin diseases including scales, herpes and leucoderma. The oil possesses insecticidal and anti-bacterial properties. Field trials of mixtures of Parker (TM) Neem Oil and Karanja Oil have shown excellent results against several families of pests. Karanja oil-resin soap sprays having a concentration of 2% have been reported to be effective against the nymph and adult stages of the green bug of coffee. The active ingredient in karanja oil is the liminoid karanjin. Each batch of Parker (TM) Karanja Oil is tested by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to certify that the karanjin content is above 20,000 ppm or 2%. Mixtures of Parker (TM) Neem Cake and Karanja Cake have greatly increased fruit yield in field trials. On okra, for example, the maximum number of fruits harvested were from the use of Neem Cake and Karanja Cake, followed by the yield from Karanja Cake alone, and followed by yield from the use of Neem Cake alone. (Kaneez Fatima, 1997) A mixture of Parker (TM) Neem Oil and Parker (TM) Karanja Oil, emulsified in water at a concentration of 0.5%, was found to be very effective in controlling the sucking pests of okra. |
