ThemostreliablemethodforshrinkingPTFETeflonistheuseofacontrolledtemperatureoven; howeverthisisimpracticalwithlargeharnessesortemperaturesensitivecomponents. PTFEheat-shrinksleevesaremadefrompurevirginPTFEwithnofillersoradditivesandtherefore offeralltheexceptionalpropertiesofPTFE.Themajorcharacteristicisauppercontinuousworking temperatureof260C.Thisexceedsthatofanyotherheat-shrinkpolymer.Inadditionitiscompletely resistanttovirtuallyallchemicals,andUVradiation.Itisavailablein4:1and2:1shrinkratios,andthe shrinkingtemperatureis327C.
