Liquid silicone mold rubbers are used widely in the reproduction of figurative sculpture. Original pieces are most often sculpted/carved from wax, clay or wood and a mold material is poured, brushed or sprayed for the reproduction. Countless sculptors and foundries for wax or lost wax process of bronze casting use Nocti silicone to make accurate reproductions of original sculpture. Silicone mold rubbers are more expensive, but may be a best choice for resin castings in greater quantity and there is no need for release agent. Silicone mold rubbers such as Moldix Series also can be poured as supplied or thickened for brushable applications. Therefore, an external mold will be required to keep the rubber mold in shape during casting.
