The uncoiler is made from a robust welded steel construction with cross head, mounted on roller bearings, with motorized adjustment through 180 deg(2-drums). Each mandrel has 4 segments which are expanded hydraulically to grip the bore of the coil and they are each driven by a varibale speed AC motor, gearbox and ring gear, which also acts as a brake. Emergency braking is provided by a fail-safe pneumatically operated brake. The uncoiler can be rotated through 180 deg(2 drums), so that while one mandrel is used for the line, the second or others can be loaded with the next required strip width.
